FORT WAYNE, IN – Grobis, Phillip William, age 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 21, 2021. He was born on October 31, 1942 in Fort Wayne to the late Stephen and Beatrice (Weller) Grobis. Phil worked selling commercial lighting for many years and had a very inquisitive personality. He was very curious about how things worked and had a deep passion for classic cars, especially hot rods. Phillip enjoyed working with hand tools and learning about mechanics. He even built his own barn and house with the help of family and friends. He had a true appreciation for craftsmanship and could be described as a true “Jack-of-all-trades”.

Other interests were live music, nature, geology, genealogy, and road trips. He was certainly never considered dull.

Phillip leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Mary Catherine (French) Grobis of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Debra (James) Seitz of Columbia City, IN, Denis Grobis (Amanda Karl), Loretta Speith (Mike Karl), and Stephen Grobis, all of Fort Wayne, IN; sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Wagner of New Haven, IN and Ruth Ann Brinker of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Joshua Seitz, Brandon Speith, Dustin Gorley (Ashley), Kirstin King (Zach), Megan Speith, Jenna Seitz, Hunter Grobis, Moss Grobis, and Alexandria Gonzales; 4 great grandchildren, as well as a many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Grobis.

At the family’s request, visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Tom Mungovan Funeral Home, 2221 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, IN 46802, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Father Tad Balinda will officiate. Flowers may be delivered to the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
