FORT WAYNE, IN – Vernon D. Jones “Cuzin Pete”, age 50, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on August 28, 2021 with his loving wife, Annalisa A. “Lisa” Jones by his side. He was born on February 13, 1971 in Gary, IN to Robert E. and Katherine Jones (Mitchell). Pete and Lisa married on January 7, 2010, but the couple had been together ever since they first met, when she was 18 and he was 23. Pete worked most of his life in warehouses, but in his free time he enjoyed washing and detailing his cars. He also loved hanging out with friends on the front porch, playing pool, and always had the stereo thumping. Pete will be remembered by his family and friends as being laid back and kind hearted. He was the type of person who would go out of his way to help others and he could be shy and outspoken at the same time. Pete enjoyed his peace and stayed out of others’ business. He was a very family-oriented man who loved his children, but may not have always expressed it to them. To his wife, Lisa, he was her protector.

Pete leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 11 years, Annalisa “Lisa” Jones of Fort Wayne, IN; children, Marvelle Barns of Indianapolis, IN, Dominique LaTroy Jones of OH, and Devonte Marcel Jones of Indianapolis, IN; mother, Katherine Mitchell Jones of Fort Wayne, IN; siblings, Darrin Thomas of Fort Wayne, IN, Alice Michelle Price of Minneapolis, MN, Vera (Saheed) Oyeniyi of Indianapolis, IN, Pastor R.J. (Patreese) Jones of MS, Twila (Shawn) Seawood of Gary, IN, and William “Tony” Jones of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Ace and Monica; aunts, Jean Woodard of Portage, IN, Mary Jackson of Fort Wayne, IN, Ruby Strong of Gary, IN, and Tabitha Jackson of Fort Wayne, IN; uncles Ray Jackson of Fort Wayne, IN and Artie Jackson of GA; great grandmother, Flossie Butler of Lake Providence, LA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Jones; grandparents, Walter (Elnora) Jackson; aunts, Betty and Georgia Jones; uncles, John Jones, Wilbur Jackson, and Eugene Jackson; cousin, Elnora Matthews, and sister-in-law, Marissa Jones.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service following at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Community Baptist Church, 3032 Smith St., Fort Wayne, IN 46806 with Pastors Thayer Williamson, Allen A. Robinson, and R.J. Jones officiating.
