FORT WAYNE, IN – Helen K. Dance, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 5, 2023. She was born on April 13, 1935, in Humboldt, Tennessee to the late Herman King and Allen Dell. In 1960, Helen moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. She joined True Love Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Jesse White, until his death. Now under the leadership of Pastor Robert Bell. She served on the Mother’s Board and the Missionary Board until she took ill. She was devoted to her Pastor, whom she loved and respected dearly, as well as the First Lady, along with her church family.
Helen was known for her greens and hot water cornbread. Her hobbies included baking, cooking, and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wallace Dance, Sr.; son, Mark Dance, and granddaughters, Lashonda Lambert, Sabrina Gaskill, and Dominique Simpson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Michael Wells, Danny (Sonya) Wells, Timothy (Nanette) Wells, and Joe Wallace Dance, Jr.; daughters, Stephanie Ann Dance-Wespon and Rochelle Dance; step-daughter, Danee Mathews; goddaughter, Mary Sales; Mary’s daughters, Margaretta Sales and Marie Robinson; Mary’s grandchildren, Myasia, Myala, and Makayla Robinson, and Tracy Lawrence; special goddaughters, Ministers Temecula Nelson and Shenekia Wims; 30 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; 3 step-grandsons, DaRon, Dayvion, and Damariea Matthews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at True Love Baptist Church, 715 E. Wallace St., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46803. A service will follow at the church at 12:00 PM with Pastor Robert Bell officiating. Burial will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday between 9:00 – 11:00 AM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church in honor of Helen.
