YORKTOWN – Doris A. Slaven, age 68, of Yorktown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2023, at her home in Yorktown. She was born on January 11, 1956, in Muncie, Indiana to Esther (Hunter) Turner of Yorktown, and the late Phillip Turner. In addition to her father, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Slaven.

In addition to her mother, Doris is survived by her son, Nick (Ashley) Slaven of Yorktown; her grandchildren, Colten and Avery Slaven; her siblings, Debbie (Kent) Haffner of Daleville, Indiana, Wayne Turner of Noblesville, Indiana, and Donna Luke of Yorktown; and many other nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Doris was a hard worker and enjoyed helping on her family’s farm and gardening. She loved to travel, especially with her sister Debbie, and her friends, Lori Meadows and Kathy Greene.

She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Nothing brought a smile to Doris’ face more than spending time with them. She was loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19,2023, from 12 noon to 3:00 PM at Muncie First Church of the Nazarene, located at 3101 N. Benton Road, Muncie, Indiana 47304. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church with Pastors Ian Fancher and Mark Dill officiating. Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery in Yorktown.
