MARION, IN – Proffitt-Scott, Nancy “Cyann”, age 81, of Marion, IN, passed away on June 24, 2021. She was born on February 8, 1940 to the late Searle and Laura Proffitt (Loutt) in Terre Haute, IN. Cyann earned her living as a Psychology Technician for many years, but her true passion was working as a jazz singer. She belonged to Hillside Wesleyan Church and her hobbies included singing and baking. Cyann also had a great love for her dogs throughout the years, always naming them after famous jazz singers. She will most be remembered for her “larger than life” presence and exuberance. Cyann always brought sunshine into the room.

Cyann is survived by her close friend and Pastor, Gary Bingham of Marion, IN; son, Kevin Scott of Borden, IN; grandchildren, Christian and Natalie Scott; niece, Terre Marshall of Columbia, SC, and cousins, John Blake and James Hazelwood both of Lebanon, IN.

In addition to her parents, Cyann is preceded in death by her sister, Judith Ann Massey.

Friends may gather at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Hillside Wesleyan Church, 2510 S. Home Ave., Marion, IN 46953. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the church, with Pastor Gary Bingham officiating. Interment of remains will take place at a later date. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday between 9:00-11:00 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church, in memory of Cyann.
