Charles (Charlie) Richard Vermilion (age 74) of Marion, IN passed away on Tuesday September 19, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and wife of 56 years. Charles was born on August 19, 1943 in Brownsville, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife Susie and their two children, Colleen Marie Burch of Richmond, IN and Chuck Allen (Debbie) Vermilion of Ft. Wayne, IN. Charles is also survived by his sister Rosie Watson Ballard of Indianapolis, IN, two beloved granddaughters, Brooke Davis and Brandi (Rob) Wilder, nephew Jacob Watson and two great-grandchildren, Rider Wilder and Charleston Wilder. He also has a great grandson on the way. Charles is preceded in death by his mother Bonita, step-father Floyd Luttrell, brother Jack Blanton and sister Rebecca (Becky) Rush. Charles served as a Volunteer Firefighter for Mill Township for 23 years and retired from General Motors after 32 years. He never met a stranger and always lived a life of serving others. Charles Vermilion was a faithful, founding member of Jalapa Chapel. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday September 26, 2017 from 3 PM until the time of memorial service at 6 PM at the Jalapa Church, 5158 North Frances Slocum Trail, Marion, IN 46952 with Pastor Jim Fairchild officiating. Floral arrangements may be delivered to the church from 10 AM until 1 PM on the day of the memorial service.
