Maralee Aughe
1937 - 2024
RICHMOND – Maralee W. Aughe, age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Arbor Trace Nursing Care Center in Richmond. She was born on June 13, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Sherril Watson and Vivian (Bible) Venis.
In addition to her parents, Maralee was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Nick R. Aughe, whom she married on April 8, 1956; her son-in-law, Jimmie James; and her stepfather, Merle Venis.
Maralee is survived by her children, Robin James of Richmond, Rhesa (Jeff) Cotham of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Rhonda (Chad) Rinehart of New Paris, Ohio, and Darin (Angie) Aughe of Seymour, Tennessee; her 15 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Sally McMasters of Florida; and 5 nieces and nephews.
Maralee lived in Wayne County Indiana most of her adult life. She was a homemaker until her children were in school, then she was able to attend Operating Room Technician Training. After completing the program, she worked at Reid Hospital for Dr. John Fiedor. Later in life, she received her EMT training at Ivy Tech and worked for AID Ambulance Service as an EMT. Maralee was a member of the Centerville Christian Church and was a past member of the PSI IOTA XI Sorority. She was active with the Centerville Jayceettes and the Centerville Archway Days planning committee, where she and Nick were King and Queen one year.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1PM on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Centerville Christian Church, 111 N. Morton Avenue, Centerville, Indiana 47330. Funeral services will follow at 1PM with Pastor Mark Ellington officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville.
Flowers and gifts may be delivered to the church on Friday, January 26 between 10AM and 12 noon. If desired, memorial contributions may be made, in Maralee’s honor, to Dollars for Scholars, Centerville High School, 507 Willow Grove, Centerville, Indiana 47330 for the Aughe Scholarship, or to the church.
