ARCANUM, OH – Michael Eugene Jackson, age 68, of Arcanum, died November 1, 2023, in the comfort of his home, after a lengthy battle with several illnesses. He was the son of the late Danial and Frances Jackson (Summers), born on December 9, 1954, in Greenville, OH. Michael graduated from Arcanum High School, Class of 1972 and on September 15, 1973, married his sweetheart, Kim Hanley. He owned Jackson Drywall, retiring in 2023. Although Michael was not in the military, he was very active in the Arcanum VFW. His interests included golf, coaching, horse racing, tinkering with old cars, and he loved his OSU and Bengals. Family and friends will remember him for a “mean” game of cards, playing board games with his family, countless volunteer jobs with the Men’s Auxiliary, playing with his grandkids, and great grandkids. He had the biggest heart and smile that would light up the room!

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Kim Jackson; daughters, April Smith and Jennifer (Justin) Scantland; sister, Cindy Skougaard; grandchildren, Felicia Webb, LaShelle Smith, Dinicko Smith, Jorden (Brittany) Midlam, Quest Scantland, and Chase Scantland; great grandchildren, Cayden, Phoebee, Tatie, Axel, Ari’yah, Iris, Phoenix, and Brielle, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and a wonderful extended family from his wife.

In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brothers, Danial “Joseph” Jackson and Fred D. Jackson; brother-in-law, Earl Skougaard, and sister-in-law, Patty Jackson.

Visitation will be at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Pitsburg Church of the Brethren, 8376 Pitsburg-Laura Rd, Arcanum, OH 45304. A memorial service will follow at 5:30 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ken Oren. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Arcanum VFW, in honor of Michael.
