Donna Thompson
1948 - 2024
PITSBURG – Donna L. Thompson, age 75, of Pitsburg, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville, Ohio. She was born on April 22, 1948, in Portland, Indiana to the late Donald McLaughlin and Geraldine (Stump) Vaughan. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, Tom McLaughlin.
Donna is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dean Thompson, whom she married on January 17, 1969; her children, Barry (Michael Fye) Canan of Clearwater, Florida, Dean (Deborah) Thompson, Jr. of Spring, Texas, and Shannon (Kraig) Ressler of Arcanum, Ohio; her grandchildren, MacKenzie Canan, Morgan Canan, Arch Currid, Ashlee (Stephen) Wilson, Logan (Olivia) Ressler, Larkin (Hollie) Ressler, and Elayna Ressler; and her great-grandson, Miles Wilson. Donna also leaves behind her siblings, Judy (Jim) Gettings, Denny (Kathy) Vaughan, Brian (Jennifer) Vaughan, and Chuck (Lori) Vaughan.
Donna was so much more than anything that can be said in this limited space. She was amazing: an amazing cook, an amazing wife, an amazing mother and grandmother. She was a chronic bragger and supporter of her family and the person you would want to have by your side and in your corner. She was an expert shopper and looked forward to her Black Friday shopping trips. You never had to wonder what Donna was thinking, she would gladly tell you. She loved being around her friends and family and if there were 4 conversations going on, she was a part of all of them. She made it a priority to be at all her kids and grandkids events. Her take charge attitude and selfless personality is already missed and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 5 to 7 PM and again on Friday, February 23, from 10 AM until the time of the funeral at 11 AM at Pitsburg Trinity Lutheran Church located at 8520 Oakes Road, Pitsburg, Ohio 45358 with Pastor Mel Musser officiating. Burial will follow in Mote Cemetery near Pitsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to either EverHeart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331, or to the Pitsburg Trinity Lutheran Church. Flowers and gifts may be delivered to the church on Thursday, February 22, from 3 to 5 PM.
