DEFIANCE, OH – Thomas “Tommy” Ray Hernandez, age 18, of Defiance, passed away suddenly on August 10, 2022 in an automobile accident. He was born on October 24, 2003 to Rudy and Kassie Hernandez in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a 2022 graduate of Defiance High School, where he was very well-known and loved by his classmates. Tommy was also employed by Campbell’s Soup Company. He loved spending time with his family and working with his power tools and electronics. Tommy had traits rarely seen in someone so young. He was a hard worker and enjoyed earning money. Often in his spare time he could be found reading his Bible. Family and friends will remember him as a selfless individual, always giving to those in need.

Tommy is preceded in death by his mother, Kassie Hernandez; aunt, Mildred Hernandez, and cousin, Chelsie Montgomery.

He is survived by his parents, Rudy (Natalie) Hernandez; siblings, Rudy Hernandez Jr., Sebastiana Hernandez, and Trinity Villarreal; grandparents, Lidia Gasnarez, “Papaw Big Daddy”, and Mary Jo McMahon "Grandma Jo"; aunts, Brandy (Kevin) King, Irma Hernandez, Julianne and Amanda Evans, and Patience McCoy; uncles, George (Anna) Hernandez, Ray (Jenny) Hernandez, Brandon Taylor, and Jerry Martinez; cousins, Brittney, Bianca, and Loveless Hernandez, Jessica, Jennifer, and Cecilia Wilachowski, Kimmy Montgomery, Rayvin, Maluree, and Vincent Taylor, Maximo and Analicia McCoy, Karma and Cain Taylor, Elmer Galman, Adina Hernandez, and George and Ana Hernandez, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM and 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 413 E. 2nd St, Defiance, OH 43512. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 20, 2022, also at the church with Pastor Vince Cantu officiating. Family will receive friends on Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Friday between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, however if desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hebron Ministries or to Trinity United Methodist Church in honor of Tommy.
