HICKSVILLE, OH – John Alva Wagler, age 52, of Hicksville, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 24, 2023. He was born on November 3, 1970, to Alva and Rosemary Wagler (Graber) in Hicksville, OH. He was a 1990 graduate from Hicksville High School. John was an active volunteer at Hicksville Mennonite Church, where he was a lifelong member. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing with his great nieces and nephews, volunteering at food banks, and gardening. His family and friends will remember him most for his big heart, generosity, and willingness to help others.

John is survived by his father, Alva Wagler; sisters, Darlene (Eli) Troyer and Mary Ruth (Dave) Knepp, 8 nieces and nephews, and 7 great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Wagler and an infant sister.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Hicksville Mennonite Church, 237 W. Arthur St., Hicksville, OH 43526. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, with Pastor Jay Mast officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Wednesday between 2:00-4:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Yaggy Cemetery, Grabill, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, in honor of John.
