HICKSVILLE, OH – Vernon L. Miller, age 85, of Hicksville, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Vancrest of Hicksville. He was born on July 20, 1937, in Allen County, IN to the late Levi and Mary Miller. He attended Milan Center School. Early in his life Vernon was a self-employed farmer and later worked for Crook Miller Handle Factory, Hicksville, OH and retired from Dutch Made Cabinets, Harlan, IN. He also taxied for the Amish for many years, babysat many children, and cared for his mother towards the end of her life. Vernon also loved fishing, Bluegrass music, and Massey Ferguson tractors. He was very musically talented, playing the mandolin, guitar, dobro, and mouth harp. Those who knew Vernon will remember him fondly for his caring and generous ways; always selflessly helping others.

In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves behind many cousins, his beloved church family at Hicksville Mennonite Church, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Monday, June 5, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Hicksville Mennonite Church, 237 W. Arthur St., Hicksville, OH 43526. A service will follow on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastors Jay Mast and Steve Eicher officiating. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Monday between 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Leo Memorial Park, Leo, IN on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hicksville Mennonite Church, in honor of Vernon.
