Harold Osmon
1932 - 2023
PAULDING, OH – Harold E. Osmon, age 91, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He is the son of the late Howard and Pauline Osmon (Shreve), born on March 28, 1932, in Defiance, OH. Harold was a remarkable individual who enriched our lives with his boundless humor, unwavering selflessness, deep spirituality, and profound love for family. Even though he had to drop out of school to help with the family farm, he worked and excelled as a factory worker and eventually a tool maker serving as one of the first CNC operators at Zeller Corporation, where he retired in 1995, after 44 years of service. He even worked a year after as a consultant.
Harold was a lifelong member of First Church of God in Defiance. He served in many roles, including elder, teacher, choir member, Sunday School bus driver and especially enjoyed working with the church youth. Harold also enjoyed the church bowling and softball teams, and golfing with friends and family. He always kept moving. His friends and family will remember how he always had a joke to tell whenever he was around.
On June 8, 1952, he married Donna Wilder, and they were married 49 years. Together they had 3 children, Penny (Craig) Duer of Latty, OH, Steve (Norma) Osmon of Austin, TX, and Pamela (Steve) Morcom of North Bend, WA, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 9 great, great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Donna, sister, Alene Schubert, and brother-in-law and best friend, Alvin Schubert.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of God, 561 Carter Rd, Defiance, OH 43512. A service will follow at the church at 12:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Larry Kennedy. Burial will take place at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance, OH. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Monday between 8:00-10:00 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Parkview Hospice Center, in honor of Harold.
