CLOVERDALE, OHIO – Shirley Schaffer, age 74, of Cloverdale, Ohio passed away on September 16, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 16, 1944 in Paulding, Ohio to the late Lester and Mildred (Slattman) Jewell. On April 15, 1961 she married Ronald Schaffer at the Church of Obel in Paulding, Ohio with Pastor John Michell officiating.

Shirley was a lifetime member of Bible Baptist Church of Grover Hill. She loved spending time with her family, church family and friends. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by a son Ronald (Genia) Schaffer of Monroe, North Carolina; a sister Patsy Knox of Chalmette, Louisiana, a daughter-in-law Stephanie Schaffer; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Schaffer; two children: Beverly Glander of Grover Hill and Randy (Stephanie) Schaffer of Cloverdale; and two siblings: Leo “Boz” Jewell and Virginia Jewell.

A viewing will be held at Bible Baptist Church, 201 Perry Street, Grover Hill, Ohio 45849 on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Pat Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Auglaize Chapel Church of God Cemetery, 22597 Paulding County Road 60, Oakwood, Ohio 45873. A meal and time of fellowship will follow at Oakwood American Legion.

Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the family to help with funeral costs.
