FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Barbara Jane Johnson, age 69, of Fayetteville, passed away at home surrounded by her family on November 1, 2022. She was born on August 2, 1953, to the late Eugene and Embley Tyler (Locklear). In Dillon, SC on January 31, 1981, she married Christopher Johnson and began raising a family. Barbara loved gardening, especially flower gardening. She will be remembered as a strong-minded woman who always looked on the bright side and found ways to bring happiness to herself and those around her.

As a mother and grandmother, she was always there no matter what the cost whether good or bad. She always found a way to bring us all together. She never judged and was always forgiving. In our eyes she was our “rock”.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 41 years, Christopher Johnson of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Sophia Sunshine (Jamie) Owens of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Lilian Ruth Tyler of Fayetteville, NC, Shirley Hammonds of Lumberton, NC, Virginia Lois (Jeff) Johnson of Fayetteville, NC, Carolyn (Bruce) Brockway of Vicksburg, MI, and Janice Faye (Ron) Morris of Kalamazoo, MI; brother, Douglas Lowry of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren, Charles V, Calvin, and Caitlin Crumpler, Chaz and Chelsea Cannon, and Brandon Zerbo; great grandchildren, Simmion Cannon, Dayona and Damarion Coleman, and Daybriel, Johnathan, and Terrance Ausby.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Sandera Cannon; son, Tony Zerbo; sisters, Rose Evelyn Locklear, Mary Lois Locklear, and brothers, Eugene Tyler Jr. and Thurman Lowry.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria, OH with Pastor Mark May officiating.
