In loving memory of

Herman Hochstetler

1947 - 2022

MOGADORE, OH - Herman Hochstetler, age 74, of Mogadore, OH, went home to be with Jesus, whom he loved very much, on February 13, 2022 after fighting Lewy Body Dementia for many years. He was born March 16, 1947 in Applecreek, OH to the late Harvey and Iva Hochstetler (Kuhns). Herman was a very creative person and it showed in the beautiful brick and stone houses he built for so many through his masonry business, Herman’s Masonry. Masonry was a trade he learned from his father beginning at the age of 15. During 17 of the years that he worked as a mason, he also worked full time as an orderly at Aultman Hospital until 1992. Herman was a very generous and helpful person. He helped so many family and friends on projects when needed. He so enjoyed doing all kinds of things with his grandchildren, like putting up a tree swing for them, giving them rides on his motorcycle, playing ball with them, and taking them fishing. He also had a musical talent and taught himself how to play the guitar in his teen years listening to the radio. He entertained so many at family gatherings with the harmonica and guitar. He also liked to fish and hunt.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Catherine Hochstetler (Yoder); children, Sherry Hochstetler of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Christy Emigh of Hartville, OH, Marcus (Theresa) Hochstetler of Seattle, WA, Phillip (Amy) Hochstetler of Alliance, OH, Nathan (Rachel) Hochstetler of Alliance, OH, Ranita (Chris) Nau of Canton, OH, Paula (Paul) Bier of Huber Heights, OH; sisters, Elva (Earl) Sommers, Malinda Hershberger, Jemima Hochstetler, Esther (Alvin) Yoder, Lydia Ann Miller, Mabel (Jonas) Sommers, Barbara (Larry) Oswald; brother, Harvey Jr. (JoAnn) Hochstetler, 17 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Herman was preceded in death by his brother, Levi and 2 infant brothers, as well as his sister-in-law, Esther Hochstetler and his brothers-in-law, Joe Hershberger and Wayne Miller.
