MIDDLETOWN, OH - Bennie Ray Brooks passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2022, at the age of 71. Bennie was born April 12, 1951, in Campton, KY to the late Edward & Lola Brooks (Bailey). An avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan, Bennie was raised in Kentucky and settled in Middletown, OH in 1973. He retired from Worthington Steel after more than 30 years of service in 2009. Bennie loved to socialize and enjoyed playing cards and attending dances at the Moose Lodge. He absolutely loved bluegrass music and made weekend trips to attend bluegrass festivals whenever he could.

In addition to his parents, Bennie is preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin, Henry, Martin, and Zendel, as well as his beloved daughter, Lola Brooks.

He is survived by his fiancée, Cathy Cook of Middletown, OH; son, Edward (Dorothy) Brooks of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Will) and Tucker Ray; great-grandchildren, Lola, Makayla, and Natalie, and siblings, Lee (Delores), Gary Wayne (Pat), Gene (June), and Oleen (Larry), and a host of extended family and good friends.

Visitation will be at Faith Baptist Church, 6355 Manchester Rd., Franklin, Ohio 45005 on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Matthew Hinkle. Burial will take place at Woodhill Cemetery, Franklin, Ohio. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Monday between 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank Hospice of Middletown for their compassionate assistance.
