BERNE, INDIANA - Anna Laura Hirschy, age 94, of Berne, passed away early Monday afternoon, July 20, 2026, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. She was born on July 6, 1932, in Adams County to Fred C. and Viola S. (Tewers) Weidler. She was married on November 15, 1953, in Vera Cruz, IN to Richard H. Hirschy. Anna was a 1950, graduate of Berne-French High School. She was a homemaker and worked at the Ben Franklin variety store and Economy Printing.

In her late 50’s Anna Laura went to college, eventually becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. She used this training working at both Chalet Village and Swiss Village retirement homes, serving and caring for the residents.

Anna Laura loved flowers! She looked forward each spring to planting and nurturing all types of flowers around her home on Main Street and her Eastview apartment in Berne throughout the summer. She was also a member of the Berne Garden Club for many years. Anna Laura loved reading and enjoyed collecting the works of authors such as Gene-Statton Porter and Zane Grey. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. Anna Laura was a long-time member of the First Missionary Church in Berne.

She is survived by four daughters, Laura (Tom) Miller, Becky (David) Cox, Jennifer (Vincent) Simpkins, and Marsha (Tim) Broseke; two sons, Tim (Anita) Hirschy and Mark (Jenifer) Hirschy; seventeen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren (with twins on the way).

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Dr. Angela Joy Hirschy; a granddaughter, Emily Joy Hirschy; a daughter-in-law, Anita Hirschy; a step-granddaughter, Stephanie Simpkins; a son-in-law, Vincent Simpkins, and a great-grandson, Boaz Anchor Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM at First Missionary Church, 950 US-27, Berne, IN 46711. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the church with Pastor Rick Schwartz officiating. Burial will take place at M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne, IN.

Flowers may be delivered to the church on Wednesday between 7 – 9 AM. Memorial donations may be made to First Missionary Church (audio-visual ministry) in Anna’s honor.
