Joyce D. Stevens

1945 - 2025

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA - Joyce D. Jackson, age 80, of Fort Wayne quietly passed away in her sleep the evening of December 7, 2025, at the Seasons Care Facility in San Antonio, TX. She was born on February 6, 1945, in Newport News, VA to the late Archie and Ethel (Perry) Jackson. Joyce graduated from Huntington High School. She married the love of her life, Archie Stevens, on January 30, 1971, and together they created a beautiful family and unforgettable memories.

Joyce retired from AEP, where she worked in Accounts Payables & Receivables. She was baptized early in life and a dedicated member of the House of Prayer for All People. Joyce was involved in many groups. She was a member of the youth choir, the Original McCullough Specials, and a G class worker for the Usher Board. She was the living example of a great mother and wife. She loved and cherished her grandsons, Lennix and Landon dearly. They are both shining legacies to her spirit.

Joyce leaves to cherish her spirit & memory, a loving and dedicated son, Ivan (Ronnell) Stevens; 2 grandsons, Lennix & Landon Stevens; niece/daughter, Loretta Howell; brothers, Carlton and Richard Jackson; in-law’s, Charles Cammack Sr., Joesph and Phyliss Smith, Cheryl Jackson, Jean Jackson, Bonita Jackson, Willie Dean Wyatt, Loisey and Rosie Stevens, Mary Boyd, and Elizabeth Stevens, Jean Wynn, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Archie Stevens; 4 brothers, Harold “Peanut” Jackson, William (Earnestine) Jackson, Charles “ LIL Baby” (Geneva) Jackson, and Joseph “Bubba” (Rosanne) Jackson; 2 sisters, Loretta (George) Small and Sarah Cammack ; nephews, Tony and Jerry Jackson; niece, Sharon “Red” Smalls, and her dearest friend, Jewel Lee.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 –11:00 am at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2200 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. A funeral service will follow at the church at 11:00 am, officiated by Pastor Eric B. Walker. Joyce will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.
