Eric Durbin
1966 - 2025
MUNCIE, IN - Reverend Eric Joseph Durbin was born in Winchester, IN on April 22, 1966. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 2, 2025. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sarah B. Durbin, Darvin Durbin, Jesse Carter-Gormong, and Robert Carter. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Amanda; children, Chance, Mackenzie, Cooper, Jonathan, Thatcher, and Mason; mother, Reita Durbin; father, Joe Durbin; brother, Bruce Durbin, and sisters, Brenda Wright and Lori (Mike) Clark.
Eric was a talented sports player - a participant in baseball, basketball, and football, winning many honors and awards. He was also an avid sports fan cheering most for the Florida Gators.
He served Jesus through ministry in song and ushering in the peace of Jesus to many as a hospice and hospital chaplain in Kansas City, Kanata Canada, Winchester, and Muncie, Indiana. He had a deep love for God that shaped his way of life, exampling God’s grace to anyone he came in contact with.
Eric enjoyed rich experiences and spoke often that his co-workers in the hospital made a difference in his life and prayed that he did the same. Before he passed, he offered a blessing to all those he had the privilege of spending time with and prayed continually for each of you.
Although we are all heartbroken, we rejoice in knowing he sits with Jesus and is no longer burdened by his disease. Well done, good and faithful servant.
Friends may gather on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 9:00-10:30 AM at SouthSide Church of the Nazarene, 3500 W. Fuson Rd., Muncie, IN 47302. A service honoring his memory will follow at 10:30 AM officiated by Pastor Neal Peterson. Rather than sending flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Chaplaincy Department at IU Ball Memorial or to Southside Church of the Nazarene.
