GASTON, IN - Roger Reno of Gaston, IN, passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 80. A gentle spirit who never met a stranger, Roger lived a life marked by service—to his country, his community, and his family.

Born and raised in Delaware County, Roger attended Royerton and Forest Park Elementary Schools, Riley Middle School, and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1965.
Roger met Margaret, his wife of 47 years, at the Rivoli Theater in Muncie—she sold tickets, and he was the usher. They were married at Northside Church of God.

Roger demonstrated a lifelong commitment to military service, beginning with active duty in the U.S. Navy, including assignments with Beachmaster Unit 2 and the USS Hoist. He alternated between active duty and reserve status in the Navy before later serving in the U.S. Army Reserves for 15 years.

Roger exemplified an unwavering dedication to hard work and public service. From 1970 to 2001, he dedicated over three decades to various GM and Chevy facilities across Muncie, Marion, and Fort Wayne. He spent 19 years as a Security Officer at Westminster Village in Muncie. In addition, Roger proudly served for 34 years with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department Reserves.

His volunteerism was deeply felt across the Gaston community. Roger gave over 30 years of service to the Gaston Fairgrounds and Lions Club—where he held roles as Lions Club President and Security Officer. He also volunteered at Wes-Del Schools, providing security at athletic events and proms.

Faith was central to Roger’s life. He and his wife Margaret attended Northside Church of God for 22 years and later worshipped at Corinth Congregational Church, Muncie First Church of the Nazarene, and Yorktown Nazarene.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Davisson); his parents, Quitman and Vera Reno; siblings, Herman (Nancy) Reno, Gertie Martin, and Larry (Cindy) Reno. He is survived by his brother, Edmond (Loretta) Reno; brother-in-law, Don Martin; sister-in-law, Alicia Davission; daughter, Alicia Vance; former son-in-law, Kevin Vance; sons, Chris (Stephanie) Reno and Doug (Justin) Reno; grandchildren, Amber Vance, Heather Stanley, Evan Reno, and Emily Reno, and great-grandchildren, Tahjae Teague and Ryder McCormick.

Roger found joy in war films and anything starring John Wayne. His steady presence, kindness, and lifelong commitment to helping others will be remembered by all who knew him.

We invite you to honor and celebrate Roger’s life on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Muncie First Church of the Nazarene, 3101 N. Benton Road, Muncie, IN 47304. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor Stephen Hundley. Please join us for a procession to Gardens of Memory Cemetery, where Roger will be honored with a military send-off in tribute to his faithful service.
