Rose Tanner
1931 - 2026
Yorktown, IN - Rose Marie Tanner, age 94, of Yorktown, died on March 9, 2026, and is now in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Rose was born on December 3, 1931, in Zanesville, OH to the late Jessie Floyd and Dorothy (Miller) Ruland. Rose was a 1951 graduate of Winchester High School in Winchester, IN. She later married George F. Tanner Sr. in November of 1952. They raised three children together.
Rose was a homemaker who loved cooking and later worked as a cook at a nursing facility for several years. She eventually worked and retired from Marsh Supermarkets where she worked in the deli. She enjoyed reading her bible, sewing and helping to care for her granddaughters. She was also a member of the Winchester Church of the Nazarene. Later, she attended the United Methodist Church in Saratoga, IN. Rose was loved and cherished by all those who came to know her and will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit toward others.
Rose is survived by her son, Bart Tanner (Brent Baker); daughter, Natalie (Dave) Reece, and her granddaughters, Elizabeth and Hayley Reece, along with numerous nieces and nephews, who found themselves grateful for her love.
In addition to her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her husband, George Tanner Sr.; son, George Tanner Jr., and brother, Gene Ruland.
Her family will be conducting a service to honor the life and legacy of Rose Tanner at 11:00 am on Saturday April 11, 2026, at Yorktown Church of the Nazarene, 9001 W. Arch Street, Yorktown, IN 47396, officiated by Pastor Stephen Hundley. At her family’s request, rather than sending flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the church, in honor of Rose. However, if you are sending flowers, kindly arrange for their delivery on Saturday between 10:00-11:00 a.m.
