MUNCIE, IN – Ginny Brooks, age 78, peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on April 19, 2026, surrounded by family. Ginny or “Granny” as she was affectionately known, was born on March 9, 1948, in Attleboro, Massachusetts to her loving mother, Mary J. (McNamara) Delfino and “The Old Man.” Ginny attended Mansfield High School and North Attleboro High School, where she graduated in 1966. She then moved to Ohio where she met her future husband, Charles R. “Charlie” Brooks and the two married on May 10, 1967. Together they moved to Richmond, Indiana to raise their family. While Charlie worked, Ginny passionately pursued motherhood, nurturing and educating their four children. With the children in school, she pursued a career in education, earning her bachelor's degree in elementary education, with honors from IU East, and then a master's degree in special education from Ball State University.

Ginny began her teaching career with Seton Catholic Schools in 1984 and then taught for Richmond Community Schools from 1989 until she retired in 2012, continuing to serve as a substitute teacher after her retirement. Ginny was a creative and devoted teacher. Some of her favorite teaching memories included working with students on their 6th grade science fair projects and implementing a highly successful after-school chess club. Her students, who have their own favorite memories, will never forget her.

Ginny was known to put her whole heart into everything she did. She crocheted and knitted and was also a talented seamstress. She volunteered in the community--leading Girl Scout troops, serving on the board at Richmond Civic Theatre, volunteering at Mahoning Valley Christian Service Camp, and much more. She was a devoted follower of Christ and was known for her selflessness, compassion, and generosity. She was faithful to her church, volunteering in ministries, attending Bible studies, and lifting others in prayer. While in Richmond, Ginny was a member of Centerville Christian Church and was also involved at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church. Since moving to Muncie in 2023, she has been active at Old Town Hill Baptist Church.

During Ginny's time in Muncie, she enjoyed going daily to the Muncie Delaware County Senior Center. She participated in Bible Study Fellowship in Middletown, Bible study at Union Chapel, the Parkinson's Support Group, and classes at the Muncie YMCA and Kennedy Library. Her favorite activities were spending time with and supporting her family. She attended every play, every concert and recital, every sporting event (always wearing team colors and taking her own stats), and celebrated every achievement, proudly sharing pictures and videos every chance she had.

Ginny is survived by her children, Rick Brooks (wife, Marika), Nicki Combs (husband, Kyle), and Vicki Martin; grandchildren, Eleanor, Christian (wife, Rachel), Andrew (fiancée, Paytn), Adam (fiancée, Abby), Myna, Charlie, Michael, Simon, Niko, Jude, and Robin (mother, Kit), as well as two great-grandsons, Marshall and Everett. She was the dear sister of Pauline Etter, Charles Delfino, Michael Delfino, and Dee Dee Pattee, and the late Rosemary Leonard, Fred Delfino, and John Delfino. In addition to her siblings, Ginny is preceded in death by her son, Mikey Brooks.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Old Town Hill Baptist Church, 3000 S Burlington Drive, Muncie, Indiana, with the funeral service following at 4:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Bruce Reynolds. Rather than sending flowers, Ginny’s family requests that you consider making a memorial donation to one of the following: Old Town Hill Baptist Church, Centerville Christian Church, 111 N Morton Avenue, Centerville Indiana 47330, or to Freedom Missionary Baptist Church, 794 S Round Barn Road, Richmond, Indiana 47374.
