MUNCIE, IN - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished Coamlo Vinell (Hughes) Miranda, who peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on June 28, 2026, at the age of 73.

Vinell was born on March 22,1953 in Fairbury, Illinois, the youngest daughter of Austin Lee and Hazel Irene Hughes. She was named after her aunts, Cora, Amanda, Lorene, Violet, and Nellie and loved to share the meaning of her name to all that asked. She grew up in Chatsworth, Illinois where she graduated from Chatsworth High School, class of 1971. After high school, she continued her education at Elkhart Institute of Technology where she graduated as a medical lab technician.

She lived a life marked by courage, strength, and an unwavering love for her family. Those who knew her called her “Vinell” but will remember her as “the boss” – the glue that held us together.

Vinell was a devoted wife to her husband, Efrain Miranda, originally from Panama, for 52 years; a loving mother to Angela (Brian) Lambertson and Cristina (Jason) Miranda-Neal; a proud grandmother to Kaylee Neal, Hailey Lambertson, Emily Neal, Taylor Lambertson, Ryan Neal, Alex Miranda, Gabe Miranda, and Lucas Neal; a loyal sister to Andrea Lewis and Renda McDonald, and had numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Irene; brothers, J.W., Murrell, Rodger, and Tony; sisters, Dixie, VaRetta, and Austeen, each one taking a piece of her heart.
Vinell held various titles during her life, but the greatest one was grandma. Her home was lovingly known as “grandma’s house” and the grandkids were always welcome whether for a game night, Sunday dinner, or after school visit. She made sure to instill in them the importance of knowing Jesus, church, family, and excelling in school (which included good handwriting!). Her greatest joy was her family. She cherished every holiday, family gathering, reunion, and simple moment spent with those she loved.

She enjoyed cooking (especially learning to make traditional Panamanian meals for her husband), doing laundry (the joke was that if she ran out of dirty laundry, she would wash clean ones), talking on the phone to her sisters, watching her shows, and we can’t forget her love for Southern Gospel music.

Vinell attended Temple Baptist Church for many years when her health allowed. She truly enjoyed her Sunday School class and treasured her church family and friends. Through both seasons of joy and trial, she trusted in the Lord and demonstrated remarkable courage and perseverance. She will be remembered by the strength of her fight. Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing she is healed, whole and reunited with her loved ones in heaven who have gone before her. She will be forever missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 3501 S. Madison Street Muncie, IN 47302 on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11 AM. A funeral service will follow at the church at 1 PM, officiated by Pastor Ben Lang. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Muncie, IN. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday between 10 AM-12 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the church, in honor of Vinell.
