MUNCIE, INDIANA – Howard Alyn Cring, age 79, of Muncie, passed away on July 10, 2026. Howard was born on August 20, 1946, in Bedford, Indiana to the late Howard and Anna Beth (Short) Cring. Howard was a 1964 graduate of Muncie Central High School and later attended Ball State University earning his degree in Business. On June 24, 1972, he married Cynthia Dawes.

Howard spent many years working for Westinghouse and BorgWarner. Howard enjoyed reading, boxing, ham radio, music, and following Muncie Central and Ball State basketball. He also was a member of University Christian Church and enjoyed sharing his strong faith of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Howard is survived by his wife Cindy of 54 years; son, Justin; and grandson, Brayden.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jason; and his sisters, Joanna Cring and Sally McClure.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at University Christian Church, 2400 N Nebo Road, Muncie IN 47304, with a funeral service following at 1:00 PM at the church with Pastor Steve Huddleston officiating. Burial will be private.

Instead of sending flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to University Christian Church for Samaritan’s Purse - Operation Christmas Child in Howard’s honor.
