In loving memory of

Charles Dargo

1942 - 2026

MUNCIE, INDIANA – Charles Francis Dargo, age 84, of Muncie, passed away on October 5, 2026. Born Francesco Santoro on September 28, 1942, in Tricarico, Italy, Charles lived a life defined by hard work, faith, family, and a genuine love for people.

He was born to the late Marie Santoro and was later adopted by the late Charles and Mariann Dargo. On April 17, 1977, Charles married his sweetheart, Penny, in Muncie, Indiana. Together, they shared 49 years of marriage and built a life centered on family and faith.
Charles was known throughout his life for his remarkable work ethic. He worked for Ideal Fruit Market and later Ross Supermarket for 25 years. In 2000, he began working for Marsh Supermarkets, where he remained until his retirement in 2015.

Outside of work, Charles enjoyed traveling, fishing, watching westerns, and dancing. He was a member of Avondale United Methodist Church and Alexandria Eagles #1771. Those who knew Charles will remember his charisma, sense of humor, unmistakable laugh, and the joy he brought into a room. He had a way of making people feel welcome and will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Above all, Charles was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He found great hope in the promise of salvation through Him, and his family takes comfort in knowing that, through his faith in Christ, he is now at home with his Lord and Savior.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Penny; his children, Kelly, Peggy (John), and Lucas (Ariel); his grandchildren, Michael, Amy, Stacy, Dawson, Lucy, and Annie; his great-grandchildren, Gabby, Jeremiah, Derrell, Preston, Mason, Maverick, and Dezmond, and great great granddaughter, Kalaya.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Avondale United Methodist Church, 1314 W. 10th St., Muncie, IN 47302. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Tuesday between 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church, officiated by Pastor Jack Scott. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Muncie, Indiana.

Rather than sending flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to Avondale United Methodist Church or directly to his wife, Phyllis, to assist with funeral and related expenses.
