MARION, IN – Stephen Dale Banker, age 76, of Marion, died Thursday, September 26, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on February 24, 1948, in Shelbyville, IN, to the late Dale and Avonelle (Brown) Banker. He was a 1966 graduate of Triton Central High School. Stephen then went on to become an x-ray technician, and later served in the United States Army. Stephen loved his country, family, and most importantly, his Lord. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and playing softball with the church league. Stephen was also a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser, IN, for over 15 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kim Banker. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Ruth (Stone) Banker; children, Majenta (Jayson) Hofmeister, Rebekah (Juan) Guerra, Charity (Brian) Shook, Stephen M. Banker, Jennifer (Dodd) Sweazey, and Brandon Dodd; siblings, Debbie Kanouse and LouAnn Thurston; grandchildren, Yeshua, Annalisia, and Celestria Hofmeister, Ariana, Kiana, Juliana, and Juan Guerra, Jeremiah, Josiah, Jedidiah, Eliana, Jonathan, and James Shook, as well as Kiley Dodd and Braxton Dodd.

Visitation will be Friday, October 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church St., Sweetser, IN 46987. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church, with Pastors Terry Bishir and Ronald Hon officiating. Burial will be at Marion National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in honor of Stephen.
