In loving memory of

Beverly Riley

1935 - 2024

MARION – Beverly J. Riley, age 89, beloved mother and grandmother, of Marion, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Aperion Care in Marion. She was born on June 3, 1935, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Carl and Mildred (Johnson) Elliott.

In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her loving husband, James; her siblings, Carl (Susan) Elliott, Jr., Helen McDonald, and James (Kay) Elliott. Beverly was happily married to James for over 69 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Suarez of Marion, Indiana and Pamela (Joe Maslowski) Riley of Reading, Pennsylvania; her granddaughter, Alexandra Brinkley of Reading; her sister, Phylliss (John) Brunner of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Max Elliott (Linda) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and sister-in-law, Susan Elliott of Decatur, Indiana. Beverly is also survived by her many wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews, and long-time friends.

Beverly was an accomplished executive assistant to the Oak Hill Superintendent for many years and before that worked in the same capacity at the RCA plant in Marion. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Upland, Indiana and took great pride in attaining the rank of Worthy Matron. Beverly embodied the Eastern Star values: Honesty, Dependability, Trustworthiness, Loyalty, Charity, Friendship, and Kindness. Beverly was a long-time member of the Friends church and sang for many years in the choir at the First Friends Church in Marion, Indiana. Beverly and James loved square dancing, camping, and boating; and explored America with Sharon, Pamela, and good friends. Beverly will always be remembered for her sweet, kind, and fun spirit. She especially adored her only granddaughter, Alex, and spent many days traveling to hear her sing the National Anthem for teams like the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, and Boston Red Sox.

Beverly’s family will be having a memorial service to honor Beverly’s life in the near future. Since Beverly and James love camping, instead of sending flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to: National Parks at https://www.nationalparks.org/.
