MARION, IN - Robert E. Finney, 77, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN, following a five-month battle with cancer. He was born in Marion, IN, on September 9, 1947, to the late Harold and Helen (Hart) Finney and lived his entire life in Grant County, graduating from Oak Hill High School with the class of 1965 and attending Purdue University for two years. He and Deena Andrews were married on February 5, 1972, and would have soon celebrated 53 years of marriage. Robert was employed with United Parcel Service for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1998, then he and his brother operated Finneys, Inc. for sixteen years, doing private lawn care. Formerly attending Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser, he was a founding member of Jalapa Chapel and served there in leadership until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Deena Finney; daughters, Jeannie (Oliver) Haste of Coatesville, and Joy (Greg) Beghtel of Anderson; Grandchildren, Jake (Amelia) Haste of Coatesville, with great-grandchildren, Ivy, Owen, and Aiden Haste, Max (Sela) Haste of Coatesville, with great-granddaughter, Isla Haste, Olivia Haste of Coatesville, Lila Beghtel,Terre Haute, Lena and Luke Beghtel, both of Anderson; brother, John (Pam) Finney of Lafontaine; brother-in-law, Rod (Niecy) Andrews of Van Buren; niece, Angie Benner of LaFontaine; nephew, Brian (Jennifer) Finney of LaFontaine; four great-nieces, many dear friends, a beloved church family at Jalapa Chapel, and his favorite cat, Bobo.

Preceding Mr. Finney in death were his parents, grandparents, father and mother-in-law, Max and Rosella Andrews and brother and sister-in-law, Darroll and Vicki Korporal.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Friday, January 10, 2025, with a funeral service immediately following, all at Jalapa Chapel, 5158 N. Frances Slocum Trail, Marion, IN 46952 with Pastor James D. Schroeder officiating. For those unable to attend, the service will be live-streamed on Facebook: Jalapa Chapel.
