Gloria Jean Drook
2026 - 1944
MARION, INDIANA, Gloria Jean (Peer) Drook, age 82, of Marion, entered the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 3:20 am. Gloria was born in Marion, Indiana, on July 31, 1944, to the late Eldo Peer and Dorothy (Gray) Kaehler and was raised by her loving grandmother, Anna Lee Gray. Gloria was a graduate of Marion High School, class of 1963. On June 29, 1963, in Marion, she married her sweetheart, Forrest E. Drook, and the two began raising a family together.
Gloria worked for GenCorp for 34 years as an assembly worker and retired in 1998. In her free time, Gloria enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and gardening. She first attended Westside Assembly of God and later joined Temple Congregational Church as a Deacon. She was very active in her church, where she taught Sunday school and Missionettes.
Gloria’s friends and family will remember her most for her faith and compassion for others. She was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. Gloria would visit people in hospitals and nursing homes, offering encouragement, prayers, and kindness to those who were hurting or alone. Gloria also volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels in her community. She also belonged to the Garden Club of Marion, organized the Grant County Home Garden Tours, and helped plant the flowers at The Butterfly Garden of Matter Park & “Monarchs Matter” Waystation.
Gloria is survived by her spouse of 63 years, Forrest E. Drook. Remaining here to continue her legacy of love is her son, Allen Drook; her daughters; Wendy Stegemann, Melissa (Doug) Castor, and Kimberly (Dave) Hinshaw; grandchildren, Justin Stegemann, Hayden (Chelsi) Evans, Kyle (Bobbi Jo) Graves, Lexie Castor, Caleb Stegemann, Jessica Castor, and Garrett Hinshaw; great grandchildren, Kruz Graves, Karter Graves, Coltn Sturken, and Emilee Sturken; her brothers, Richard (Barbara) Rider, Junior Peer, and Jim (Kathy) Peer; and sister Linda (Larry Spath) Brown.
In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by sisters, Annie Ellen Peer, Sheila Watson, and Deboral Williams.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Temple Congregational Church, 1006 N. Western Avenue, Marion, IN 46952. The funeral service will follow at the church with Pastor Jeff Jahn officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park at 1606 W. 26th St, Marion, IN.
