In loving memory of
Mae Dean McClure
1932 - 2024
Mae Dean McClure, 92, of Kokomo, Indiana, went home to be with Jesus on December 21, 2024. She was born on June 10, 1932, in Duvall Valley, Kentucky, to the late Albert and Flossie (Delk) Guinn.
Mae lived a full life, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith. She grew up in Albany, Kentucky and graduated from Clinton County High School. Mae married Jack H. Long in 1949, and together they had four children. Though their marriage ended in 1970, Mae got remarried in 1973 to Carl P. McClure and gained three more children. Mae and Carl shared a wonderful life together until Carl’s passing in 2022.
Mae was known for her vibrant spirit and impeccable fashion sense. She had a knack for pairing the perfect outfit with matching jewelry. Her spunky personality and warm smile lit up every room she entered.
Mae was a talented seamstress, creating everything from drapes and baby clothes to suits for Carl and her daughter Sandra’s bridesmaids’ dresses. She and Carl loved traveling, exploring many places across the United States and Mexico. Together, they also enjoyed cruising the waters of Cumberland and Dale Hollow Lakes.
She found joy in time spent with family, especially at reunions in the Smoky Mountains. Mae loved cooking and welcomed family to visit anytime throughout the year. Her homemade meals and gatherings created countless treasured memories.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mae was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Guinn; her sisters, Justine Glidewell and Florine Long; and her first husband, Jack H. Long.
Mae is survived by her children, Tony (Vickie) Long, Tom Long, Sam (Theresa) Long, and Sandra (Steve) Benzinger; Carl’s children, Georgeann Caine, Carla Odell, and Charles (Janis) McClure; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Mae was deeply loved by all who knew her and will be remembered for her faith and love of family. While she will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with her loved ones, and joyfully home with Jesus.
Mae will be cremated and interred at Albright Cemetery in Kokomo, Indiana. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Grace Community Foursquare Church, 2020 S Goyer Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902, with Pastor Mike Rush officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to Grace Community Foursquare Church. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. For additional information and to view Mae’s online obituary please visit www.churchfuneralsdirect.com.
