Rita Jean Ellington
1945 - 2025
KOKOMO, IN – Rita Jean Ellington, age 80, of Kokomo, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. She was born on February 14, 1945, in Kokomo, IN, to Maxwell and Florence (Roush) Samuelson.
Rita was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who loved her family and friends deeply. She was great at always remembering birthdays, holidays and other special occasions with cards and personal messages. Rita was a mighty woman of faith, as well as a faith-filled prayer warrior who cared about others and the difficulties they were experiencing. She believed in the power of Jesus to heal and bring transformation to anyone who asked. Rita will be remembered for her kind words and actions with which she brightened and touched so many lives. Her deepest desire was for everyone to know how wonderful it is to trust Jesus as their Savior and to walk through life with Him instead of alone.
In addition to her mother, Rita was preceded in death by the love of her life and beloved husband, Scott Ellington; her father, Maxwell Samuelson; her sister, Barbara Jackson; and her stepson Sean Ellington.
Rita leaves behind her children (spouse), Mindy Bridges, and Randy (Ruby) Hudson; her grandchildren (spouse), Alisha (Jimmy) Kim, and Justin Hudson; her great-grandchildren, Miley, and Greyson Seigworth; her siblings (spouse), Shareen McClish, Walter “Jr.” (Miki) Rodman, and Patty Drayton; and her bonus daughter Missy Rush. Rita also leaves behind her sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly, Brenda, Sharon, Jackie, Rick, Terry and Robin; her stepchildren, Chris, and Amber Ellington; and her step-grandchildren, Michael, Lauren, Noelle, Natalie, and Hunter.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 AM at Grace Community Foursquare Church, 2020 Goyer Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902 where a funeral service, celebrating the life of Rita, will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Mike Rush. Burial will take place at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery in Kokomo. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday between 9:00 AM-10:00 AM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church, in honor of Rita.
