KOKOMO, IN – Bennie Kent Harris, 72, of Kokomo, died on May 7, 2026. Bennie was born on December 4, 1953, in Harrison, AR to Lonnie Earl and Roslene June (Dillingham) Harris. Bennie was a 1972 graduate of Eastern High School and later attended Ivy Tech College earning an associate’s degree in architectural drafting. On May 17, 1980, he married his great love, Peggy Ann (Liechty) Harris. Bennie ran his own home design and drafting business, Harris Designs, for most of his life, continuing to provide drafting services part time from home after his retirement. He was a self-taught guitar player since a boy and he played in the worship team at churches he attended. He attended New Life Church on Vaile Ave. Bennie’s friends and family will remember him most for his boisterous laughter. Bennie’s family rests in the knowledge that he is now worshipping in Heaven with his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bennie is survived by his loving wife of nearly 46 years, Peggy; children, Jason (Amanda) Harris, Anthony (Ashley) Harris, and Michael Harris; mother, Roslene; sister, Ganiece (Dwight) Schaaf, as well as seven grandchildren and one great-granddaugher. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Earl Harris.

A visitation and funeral service is planned for Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at New Life Church, 1803 E Vaile Avenue, Kokomo, IN, 46901. Visitation starts at 12:00pm and the funeral service will start at 1:00pm, officiated by Pastor Devin Galloway. Burial will take place at Mast Hensler Cemetery, Kokomo, after the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Wednesday from 9:30am to 11:00am. Memorial donations may be made to the church in Bennie’s honor.
