Betty Marie Wildman
1930 - 2026
WINONA LAKE, IN - Betty Marie Wildman of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 4, 2026. She was born on July 21, 1930, in Milford, to Edward A. and Edith (Dewart) Smith. On April 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Walter Vere Wildman. They shared 66 years together before he passed away on September 4, 2015.
Betty graduated from Milford High School as valedictorian of her class in 1948. She held a secretarial position at United Telephone Company in Warsaw for a few years and then became a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She grew up at New Salem Church, Milford, where she was a member for many years and then became a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego.
Betty’s favorite pastimes were reading and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Ronald (Sharon) Wildman, Randall (Adena) Wildman, and Robert (Keeley) Wildman, all of Warsaw. Also surviving are five grandchildren: John (Sarah) Wildman, Carmel, IN, Jane (Stephen) Warwick, New Bern, NC, Anna Beth Wildman, Chicago, IL, Luke (Lauryn) Wildman, Warsaw, IN, and Brandon Wildman, Leesburg, IN, as well as four great-grandchildren: Hope Wildman, Jude Wildman, Jack Wildman, and Amy Warwick.
She would most want to be remembered for her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Erma Mathews and Leliah Janet Lambert.
Burial will be private at Leesburg Cemetery, just prior to visitation. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to11:00 am on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the chapel at Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, IN 46590. A memorial service will follow at 11:00am with Pastor Jack Teeple and Chaplain Bryan Benjamin officiating. Flowers may be delivered to Grace Village Retirement Community on Friday between 9:00-11:00am. Memorial donations may be made to Lakeland Child Evangelism Ministries, P.O. Box 612, Winona Lake, IN 46590 or to Grace Village Retirement Community. Envelopes will be provided at the service.
