Virginia Lois Marshall
1932 - 2024
LIGONIER, IN - Virginia Lois (Conrad) Marshall, age 91, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Parkview Hospital in Kendallville, IN. She was born on December 16, 1932, to the late Ray and Ethel (Haines) Conrad in Detroit, Michigan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Kenneth Marshall, on August 9, 2022, whom she married on August 18, 1962; and her siblings, Duane Conrad, Paul Conrad, and Janet Spitler.
Virginia is survived by her three children Karen (Gary) Cox of Kimmell, IN, Kevin (Betsy) Marshall of Wolf Lake, IN and Kerry (Linda) Marshall of Spencerville, IN; seven grandchildren, Amanda Cox, Allison Cox, and Ashley Cox, Rebecca Marshall, Christopher (Sarah Fick) Marshall, Mark (Laura) Abdon, Elise Marshall; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Abdon, Jonathan Abdon, and Ben Abdon; a brother-in-law, Butch Spitler, and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia graduated from Shepherd High School in Shepherd, MI, attended Manchester College, and obtained her master’s degree in education from Ball State University. She then taught elementary education at Albion Elementary, Syracuse Elementary, and Howe Elementary. After raising her children, Virginia babysat in her home for many children in the area. She and Lloyd took many adventurous camping road trips and looked forward to attending their grandchildren’s school activities. Virginia was an avid seamstress and quilted many beautiful quilts for her family. She loved gardening and lovingly tended her garden for 58 years, feeding her family well. During the winter months, she loved feeding the birds, enjoyed puzzles, and delighted in playing games with her family. Virginia was a member of Sparta Christian Church in Kimmell.
Family and friends will be received from 12 noon until the time of the funeral at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Sparta Christian Church, 2584 N US-33, Kimmell, IN 46760, with Pastor Adam Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery.
Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday between 9:30 and 11:30 AM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to either Parkview Hospice, 1836 Ida Red Road, Kendallville, IN 46755 or to Sparta Christian Church.
