1945 - 2025
ALBION, IN - Lois Ward, age 79, of Albion, IN, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 31, 1945, to the late Max and Irene McGuire, in McCray Hospital of Kendallville, IN. She was a 1963 graduate of Albion Jefferson High School and later married her husband, Kenneth Ward, in 1998. Lois worked in a variety of positions, from sales to QC in manufacturing, and finally retiring in 2004. She enjoyed the sights and sounds of Lake Michigan, shopping, and decorating the house, but what brought her the most enjoyment was being with her husband and experiencing the presence of the Lord. Friends and family will remember her for her charismatic personality, her love, her boldness, and her heart for the Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, John David Bortner; daughter, Michelle D. Mynhier; sister, Elaine Wolfe, and a great-great niece, Madisyn Elaine Days.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 26 1/2 years, Kenneth; children, Kim Snyder (Gary Ogden), Daren Bortner, Krystal (Mike) Fugate, James (Chandra) Mynhier; siblings, Bill (Rachel) McGuire, and Betty Pettit; grandchildren, Shawn Bortner, Aden Mynhier, Madison Mynhier, and Khloe Bryant.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at New Life Apostolic Church, 609 Patty Lane, Kendallville, IN 46755. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastors Austin Gilliland and Michael Stanley. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, IN. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Tuesday between 8:00-10:00 AM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Stone, 7270 IN-9, Wolcottville, IN 46795 or to New Life Apostolic Church, in honor of Lois.
