ALBION, INDIANA – Laura Mae (Witham) Owen, age 79, of Albion, died on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 18, 1947, in Kendallville, IN, to the late Ben Witham and Esther (Wooten) Fry. Laura graduated from Lakeland High School and on September 24, 1983, she married her sweetheart, James H. Owen.

Laura retired from Newell Manufacturing as a quality control technician. She was also a longtime member of the Auxiliary Eagles and Sweet Church. In her free time, she enjoyed crafts, plants, flowers, crocheting, genealogy, and doing puzzles. Family will remember her most for how she loved all of us.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, James H. Owen; children, Bill (Bobbie) Tyler of Wolcottville, IN, Eddie (Brenda) Tyler of LaGrange, IN, Angela (late husband Rick Adams) of Constantine, MI, Tracy (Ron) Stanley of Kendallville, IN, Teresa (Mike) Brewster of Mesa, AZ, and Troy (Kim) Owen of Avilla, IN; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, a great granddaughter, a sister and brothers.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Sweet Church, 3015 E 415 N, Albion, IN 4670. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Regan Ford officiating. Burial will take place at Sweet Cemetery, Albion, IN.

Flowers may be delivered to the church on Thursday between 8:30 – 10:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the church in honor of Laura. Donation envelopes will be available at the church.
