James Russell Saintignon

1951 - 2024

UNION CITY, IN - James “Jim” Russell Saintignon, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born June 12, 1951, in Union City, Indiana, to the late Norbert Saintignon and Betty (Grim) Saintignon Ludwick. He graduated from Mississinawa Valley High School in 1969 and served a short time in the United States Army in 1970. Following medical discharge, he worked for the Union City Body Company, MBM Lumber, Timmerman Truss, and retired from Chris King Trucking in 2018.

He was a loyal member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the board of the Union City Community Help Center. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed numerous hobbies including riding his Harley, yard work, fishing, camping, traveling, woodworking, wine making, and boating. He hosted many campfires with friends and family in his nature sanctuary and loved quiet time in his back yard. Jim cherished any time spent with his four grandkids and rarely missed a ball game or performance.

Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart, Gloria (Zimmerman) Saintignon, whom he married on July 22, 1972; two daughters, Emily (Jon) Taylor and Annie (Kelsey) Timmerman; one sister, Julie (Steve) Amspaugh; four grandchildren, Jared and Cale Taylor, and Harper and Griffin Timmerman, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and special friends.

Jim’s family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Farnham and staff of Indianapolis, the caregivers of Heart-to-Heart Hospice of Muncie, and the many other healthcare providers. Instead of flowers, donations may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church of Union City, Indiana, Heart-to-Heart Hospice of Muncie Indiana, or Darke County Cancer Association of Greenville, Ohio.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 11, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1470 W.
