ROANN, IN - Sherrel L. Rutledge, age 70, of Roann, died peacefully on March 16, 2025. She was born on January 6, 1955, in San Francisco, CA. to Richard Hawkins and Carole (Pegg) Hawkins. Sherrel was a hardworking single mother of five, who enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren, feeding and watching her hummingbirds; and was a mother to all.

She is survived by her mother, Carole (Pegg) Hawkins of Wabash IN; four siblings, Dave (Vicki) Hawkins of Laketon, IN, Jere Hahn of Wabash, IN, Sandy (Tim) Rowe of Wabash, IN, Dick (Jackie) Hawkins of Lincolnville, IN; four children, Russell (Shelly) Rutledge of Peru, IN, Melissa (Nick) Diffenbaugh of Noblesville, IN, Cody Rutledge of Roann, IN, John (Courtney Tyler) Rutledge of Roann, IN; and seven grandchildren, Jacob Rutledge of Wabash, IN, Isaac Rutledge of Muncie, IN, Adam Rutledge of Roann, IN, Serenity Diffenbaugh of Noblesville, IN, Sydney Diffenbaugh of Noblesville, IN, Kiara Diffenbaugh of Noblesville, IN, and Bella Rutledge of Marion, IN.

She is preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Rutledge.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Wabash Friends Church, 3563 S IN-13, Wabash, IN 46992. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM at the church officiated by Pastor Dave Phillips. Burial will take place at Friends Cemetery, Wabash, IN. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Tuesday between 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church, in honor of Sherrel.
