LAFONTAINE, IN - Gary Shane Nose, age 83, of LaFontaine, Indiana passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026. He was born on May 6, 1943, to the late Harry P. and Phyllis D. Nose in Marion, Indiana.

Gary was a 1961 graduate of LaFontaine High School and attended Manchester College for his bachelor’s degree and Ball State for master’s degree. Gary was a farmer and a history teacher at Salamonie Junior High. He was a member of LaFontaine Christian Church, served on the MSD school board, Wabash County Council, and Liberty Township Trustee board, and participated in the Lion’s Club and the Gideons. He married Donna Nose on April 8, 1998.

Gary is survived by his wife, Donna Nose; brother, Mike (Carol) Nose; children, Sarah Oliver, Susan (Jason) Worster, and Steven (Caroline) Nose; stepchildren, Ike Erb and Cindy Erb; grandchildren, Dakota (Summer) Oliver, Colton Oliver, Caroline Oliver, Alexandra (A.J. Metzger) Nose, Miranda Nose, Matthew Nose, Tristen Worster, Tucker Worster, Malakai Stephens, and great-grandchild, Cora Oliver.

His memorial gathering will be Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 PM with a service following at 6:00 PM at LaFontaine Christian Church, 202 Bruner Pike, La Fontaine, Indiana 46940, with Pastor Brad Wright officiating. Memorial donations may be made to LaFontaine Christian Church, in honor of Gary. Envelopes will be provided at the church. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Wednesday between 3:00-4:00 PM.
