In loving memory of
Carol “Sue” Brookman
1941 - 2026
WAPAKONETA, OH - Carol “Sue” Brookman entered into the presence of Jesus Christ on August 9, 2026, at 4:05 PM at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, OH. She was born on June 3, 1941, in West Prestonsburg, KY to the late Albert and Flossie (Music) Harmon. On December 24, 1970, she married the late Donald Brookman, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2005. She was a 1959 graduate of Ada High School.
After graduation she cleaned homes and worked at the Wilson Football Factory for a short time. On November 20, 1967, she began working at Airfoil Textron (Excello) for 28 years until they closed in 1995. She would then work at Metokote in Lima, OH until her retirement in December 2005. She was a longtime member of The Wapak Church, Wapakoneta, OH.
Carol and her husband enjoyed dancing, camping trips on their motorcycle with friends, camping at Lake Amanda, and attending Jamboree in the Hills. In her later years she enjoyed attending senior citizens events in Wapakoneta and playing Bingo with her cousin, Doris Culp. She was an avid Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and the friends of her family that were known to call her mom and grandma.
She is survived by three daughters, Jill (JR) Cramer of Wapakoneta, OH, Karen Brookman of Lima, OH, and Donna Brookman-Good of Bloomdale, OH; bonus daughter, Tiyu (Chet) Blevins of Lima, OH, whom she loved as one of her own; sister, Mildred Game of Goldsboro, NC, as well as fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one more on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue is preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly (Barney) Bradley; her sister, Vivian Welch, and her brother, Stephen Harmon.
Though we grieve, we take comfort knowing she accepted the free gift of salvation through Christ and is now at home in heaven.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 22, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM at The Wapak Church, 14871 Fox Ranch Road, Wapakoneta, OH 45895, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastors Jason Goss and Tom Powell. Burial will be at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday between 9:00-11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the church or to the American Heart Association, in honor of Sue. Donation envelopes will be provided at the church.
