NEY, OH - Charlene Ann Scharf, 65, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 15, 2025. Born on October 31, 1959, in Defiance, Ohio, to Frank and the late Charlotte Kohart, Charlene was a 1978 graduate of Paulding High School.

Charlene brought beauty and growth to everything she touched. She cultivated not only spectacular gardens but also thrived when using the yields of her gardening for canning, winemaking, and preparing superior foods. Crafting, painting, and cheesemaking were just a few more of her hobbies. These pursuits were most enjoyable when shared with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Charlotte, she is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Van Kohart, and step-mother, Jean Kohart.

Charlene is survived by her loving husband, Jerome (Jerry) Scharf; children, Sarah (Ron) McCabe, Cory (Becca) Irwin, and Andrea (Scott) Jaynes, and grandchildren, Ethan McCabe and Renee McCabe. She is also survived by her father, Frank Kohart; siblings, Kris (Bud) Dobbelaere, Ken (Denise) Kohart, and sister-in-law, Jan Kohart, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service honoring Charlene’s life will be held at 12 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Auglaize Chapel Church of God, 22597 Paulding Co. Road 60, Oakwood, OH 45873, officiated by Pastor Mick Sobieck. Visitation will begin at the church at 11 AM. The family requests that, rather than sending flowers or gifts, donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Chicago.
