Eldonna Marie Yount
1938 - 2025
ARCANUM, OHIO – Eldonna Marie Yount, age 86, of Wayne Lakes, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was born on May 7, 1938, in Darke County, OH to the late Eldon and Florence (Hunn) Whitehead.
Eldonna was a career LPN, who worked at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville, OH, retiring in 2003. As a member of Castine Church and as a true believer in Jesus Christ, she served her Savior faithfully. She prayed daily through her family circle one by one. Eldonna was a quiet soul. Working 3rd shift throughout her career, she loved keeping track of her family and community by always clipping newspaper stories about their events. And while the scissors were hot, she clipped many “Family Circle” comic strips and saved them as well. In her later years, Eldonna enjoyed reading, listening to Christian radio stations and looking out the large window overlooking the lakes. She loved to watch her ducks, her favorite swan, other birds and rabbits. She loved watching the leaves change and even had an appreciation for the autumn red poison ivy. She was not one to watch television, not having much of a mind for earthly things. Eldonna’s greatest desire was that everyone would know her living Lord.
In addition to Eldonna’s parents, she is predeceased by her infant son, Kent Randall and daughter-in-law, Sue (Brant)Yount. She is survived by her children; Curtis (Rhonda) Yount, Craig (Holly) Yount, Kevin (Donna) Yount, Kerry (Tami) Yount, Karen (Scott) Fourman, Brenda Himebaugh and Brant (Cindy) Yount, 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; and her sisters Marilyn (Charles) Bruner and Jane (Byron) Smith.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service in Eldonna’s honor at Castine Church, 624 US 127, Arcanum, OH, Friday, March 7, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A service will follow at 10:30 AM, led by Pastor Greg Hyre. Eldonna’s body will be laid to rest at Ithaca Cemetery in Arcanum.
