Leroy Billenstein
1941 - 2025
NORTH STAR, OH – On July 24, 2025, our Lord and Savior called Leroy Carl Billenstein, age 84, to his forever home. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born on February 22, 1941, in Darke County, OH, to the late William and Ermel (Rarick) Billenstein. Leroy married his sweetheart, Wanda C. Norris, on May 23, 1964, at East Zion Church and the two began raising a family together. In his free time, Leroy enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, gardening, bowling, and helping neighbors and friends. Leroy will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help friends and neighbors, as well as for his love of hot sauce and spicy food.
He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Wanda C. Billenstein; children, Annette Billenstein of Rossburg, OH, Cary (Sandy Stanglin) of Red Oak, TX, Kathy (Tom Fox) Gelhaus of Ansonia, OH, Scott (Lori) Billenstein of Hilliard, OH; siblings, Carol (Jack) Myer, John (Jane) Billenstein, Linda (Tony) Baker, and Ron (Theresa) Billenstein; sisters-in-law, Carol Holsapple and Connie Billenstein; grandchildren, Blake, Joshua (Sonja), Justin (Danielle), Caylee (Michael), Jessica (Kyle), Allison (Aaron), Kelsey (Mitch), and Zachary; step-grandchildren, Katie (Lance), Willie (Mattie), Bryant (Charity), and Darrel (Trent); 8 great grandchildren, and 5 step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Martha (Keith) Allread; brother, Dan Billenstein, and great granddaughter, Willow Billenstein.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 5-8 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 13495 Greenville-St. Mary’s Road, Versailles, OH 45380. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 10 AM, at the church, with Minister Mary Miller and Pastor Paul Calvert officiating. Family will begin receiving friends at 9 AM on Wednesday. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Tuesday between 3-5 PM. Burial will be at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens, Greenville, OH. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to EverHeart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, OH 45331, in honor of Leroy.
