1939 - 2026
VERSAILLES, OHIO - Virginia Viola “Vergie” Bayman, age 87, died on June 5, 2026, at 4:50 AM. Vergie was born on May 29, 1939, in Galia County, Ohio, at the home of her late parents, Raymond and Bessie Bays. On January 9, 1960, she married her longtime sweetheart, Herbert Bayman and together they began raising a family together.
Vergie was a committed stay at home mother and homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, camping, raising chickens, garage selling, auctions and flea markets. Vergie also enjoyed traveling, visiting family, square dancing, helping at the church, going to the fair, Christmas, and country music. She belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. After 87 years, 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, Vergie departed this earthly life to enter the eternal kingdom of our lord and be reunited with her husband.
Vergie is survived by 4 children, Brenda (Robert) Eury, David Bayman, Cindy (Darrin) Shook, and Michael Bayman; siblings, Dennis Bays, Ralph Bays, Janice (Jerry) Spurlock, Junior Bays, Sue Tremble, and James Bays; grandchildren, Natasha Eury, Danielle (Thomas) Haskell, Sarah Eury, Samantha (Tyler) Young, Ryan (Kristin) Bayman, and Matthew (Bailey) Shook; 12 great grandchildren, and a host of countless friends and extended family whose lives were touched by her love and kindness.
In addition to her parents and loving husband of 60 years, Vergie is preceded in death by her son, Ted Bayman.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 1-2 PM at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 13495 Greenville Saint Mary’s Road, Versailles, Ohio 45380. The funeral service will follow at the church at 2:00 PM with Vicar Mary Miller officiating. Burial will take place at St Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery with a meal following at the church.
Flowers may be delivered to the church anytime on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, and Wednesday between 11 AM - 1 PM. Memorial donations may be made to St Paul’s Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society in honor of Vergie. Donation envelopes will be provided at the church.
