ARCHBOLD, OH – Helen A. Steingass, age 88, of Archbold, formally of Defiance, died on September 11, 2024. She was born on September 21, 1935, in Paulding County, OH, the youngest of 13 children born to the late Charles and Anna Miller (Helmke). She was a 1953 graduate of Hicksville High School. Helen was very active in her church and enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Her family will always remember her love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter. She will also be remembered as someone who always had a warm and welcoming hug for you.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by 12 siblings and 2 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Marvin Steingass; children, Susan (Phil) Pike, Beth Rupp, Ralph (Sandy) Boger Jr., Shirley (Keith) Neiderhiser, and Laura (Mark) Bronson; step-children, Doreen (Ron) Gump, Jeffrey (Christie) Steingass, Roxanne (Mike) Sample, and Peggy Steingass (who died in infancy), many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 655 Wayne Ave., Defiance, OH 43512. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. Burial will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Holgate, OH. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Tuesday between 8:00-10:00 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the church, in honor of Helen.
