DEFIANCE, OHIO – Cynthia L. Herendeen, age 58, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025. She was born on February 1, 1967, in Defiance, Ohio to Eugene and Judy (Hale) Young.

Cindy married Troy Herendeen in 1988. They were married for over 36 years. She received her associate’s degree and was a Non-Clinical Manager of the Medical Department of Corrections Center of NW Ohio. Cindy was a member of Bethel Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Defiance. She loved her family, vacationing with them and playing golf with Troy. She loved animals. One of her favorite activities was Purse Bingo. She also enjoyed remodeling their home.

Cindy is predeceased by her mother, Judy Young; her grandmothers, Flora Gallant and Elaine Young; and her niece, Angela Mueller. She is survived by her husband, Troy Herendeen; her daughter, Kassandra (Dustin) Wright; her son, Corey (Emily) Herendeen; her grandchildren, Logan, Karah, Khloe Ott, Sophia Tropepe, Tatum, Adaleigh, Joss, and Liesel Herendeen; her father, Eugene Young; and her siblings, Teresa (John) Mueller, Rob (Sharla) Young, Stan Young, and Elizabeth Conley.

The family will receive visitors at Bethel Church, 20000 County Rd 424, Defiance, OH on Saturday, April 26. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM with Pastor Tim Hacker officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed, in Cindy’s honor, to Bethel Church and to Ft. Defiance Humane Society at fortdefiancehumanesociety.org/donate in recognition of Cindy’s great care for animals. Donor envelopes will be provided at the funeral. Flowers may be delivered to the church on Saturday, April 26 from 8-10 AM.
