DEFIANCE, OH – Alfred Jesse Montez “Chuy”, age 55, of Defiance, died on June 15, 2025. He was born on February 14, 1970, in Defiance, OH, to the late Alfredo and Angelina (Ortiz) Montez. Chuy worked as a mechanic for many years and was a "jack" of many trades. He loved Mexican music, fishing, cooking, and most importantly, spending time with his children and grandchildren. Family and friends will remember him most as being the life of the party, who had a great sense of humor, and an unforgettable smile.

He is survived by his children, sons, Nik (Emily) Montez of Defiance, Chris Montez of North Carolina, and Austino (Rowan) Montez of Paulding; step-daughters, Aniessa (Scott) Nadeau and Ashley (Jett) Jeffery of Defiance; previous wife and close friend, Nina Valle; siblings, Serena (Thomas "Da Cat") Ellis, Monica (Dick) Bowen, and Juan Montez, Sr.; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; Mondy Acevedo, who was like a brother; his beloved canine companion, “Goose”, and many nieces, nephews, tios, tias, primos, primas, and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Chuy is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Visitation will be Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11AM at Defiance Christian Church. A funeral service will follow at 12PM with Pastor Vince Cantu officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Defiance, OH. His family requests that rather than sending flowers, please consider making a donation to the family to assist with final expenses or to the church in his honor. However, if you choose to send flowers, they may be delivered to the church on Monday between 9-11AM.
