Bruce Raymond Dickes
1962 - 2025
DEFIANCE, OH – Bruce Raymond Dickes, age 62, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 1, 1962, in Toledo, OH.
Bruce was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He shared 36 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Susan, whom he married on September 10, 1988. Together they share four daughters, Kayla Pollick, Sarah Dickes, Lexi (Thomas) Perry, and Hannah Dickes, as well as five grandchildren, Ethan, Destiney, Denise, Maia, and Lily – who continue to bring joy and light to the family.
Bruce is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Sue Dickes; brother, Keith (Michelle Waite) Dickes, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Dickes.
A hard-working and dedicated electrical engineer, Bruce spent 40 years in the field, most recently with Universal Controls Group in Perrysburg, a position he truly enjoyed. He was known for his hands-on skills, his eagerness to stay busy, and his willingness to help with any project, big or small.
Bruce was a man of quiet faith who deeply loved his church family at First Baptist Church of Defiance, OH. He found strength, purpose, and community there, and took great pride in being involved wherever he could lend a hand.
Outside of work, Bruce loved hunting, fishing, and – most of all – spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His steady presence, kind heart, and strong work ethic will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 5-8PM at First Baptist Church, 1399 Jefferson Ave., Defiance, OH 43512, as well as on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 10-11AM, at the church, where a memorial service will follow at 11AM, officiated by Pastors Ron Monteith and Wayne Altstaetter. Rather than sending flowers, please consider making a donation to Relay for Life of Henry County, the First Baptist Church Facility Renovation Project, or a charity of your choice.
