DEFIANCE, OHIO - Frances Charlene Brown, age 85, a beloved wife, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025. Frances was born on November 6, 1940, in Defiance, OH to August and Flora Lodessa (Hurtt) Kammeyer. Known for her impeccable taste and love of the finer things in life, Frances brought joy, laughter and a touch of elegance to everyone who knew her.
Though she had no children of her own, Frances was a devoted aunt, showering all her nieces and nephews with love, attention and endless encouragement. She had an unparalleled gift for friendship, surrounding herself with a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss her warmth, humor, and generosity.
Frances had a passion for shopping and the joys of a stylish life. She always had a knack with her attire. Coordinating everything from shoes, hats, and jewelry. She made sure she was dressed in red, white, and blue for national holidays and questioned anyone who didn't follow the holiday dress code. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her laughter that filled every room, and the grace she carried in every endeavor. She will certainly add her flair to her heavenly home. She also loved dancing and will fit right in.
Frances is survived by her loving husband, who she cherished, Harry Brown; siblings, Barbara Bible, Elsie Olinghouse and Larry Kammeyer; countless nieces and nephews; and many friends who became family.
She is preceded in death by 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
A visitation honoring Frances' life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 671 Clinton St, Defiance, OH 43512, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. David Brobston officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, 1417 S Clinton St, Defiance, OH 43512. There will be a meal and time of fellowship with the family in the church basement following the committal service.
Flowers may be delivered to the church on Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Hospice or the church in honor of Frances.
